Returning to swimming

Swimming lessons are going to look a little bit different upon our return- please see below for guidance as to how your pool will be operating following Covid 19.

Pentrehafod Pool:

Arrival at the building:

Parents will be advised to stay in their cars until 5 minutes before the start of their child's lesson. Unfortunately, due to restricted numbers on the premises, only one parent will be allowed to bring children to their lesson. We will not be able to accommodate additional family members.

On arrival at the main doors of the pool parents will need to read the self declaration poster and use the sanitiser provided. They will be directed down the corridor towards the changing rooms where toilet facilities are available on the right hand side. Doors will be propped open throughout for increased ventilation and reduced touch points. At present, the wearing of face masks is not compulsory for adults however if you feel you would like to wear one, please feel free.

Getting changed:

Although you will remember Pentrehafod pool to have a girls and boys wet changing room, these have now been changed in line with government guidelines and will be separate drop off and pick up points.

Children need to arrive to their swimming lesson 'beach ready', which means a bather on under a onsie and easy slip on shoes or flip flops.

Signs will direct parents to the drop off point (currently the girls wet changing room) where a changing station is available for children to take off their onsie and be ready to enter the pool.

Please note that this will now be a mixed changing area. With the staggered lesson start times we will be bringing in just two classes at a time.

Unfortunately, parents will not be able to enter the poolside. Your class teacher will meet children at the pool door and take them safely to their lesson.

Parents will need to put children's clothes and shoes into a bag to take with them. These items will not be allowed to be left in the changing rooms. We suggest a big Ikea bag or bag for life in order to fit everything in quickly. Parents will need to exit the changing room and follow the one way system to exit the building through the gym door. Unfortunately, we are not allowed any outside viewings to reduce gathering and so parents will have to wait in their cars until the lesson is over.

After the lesson:

Parents will need to return to the pick up point approximately 3-4 minutes prior to the end of their child's lesson. The pick up point is currently the boys wet changing room. Teachers will bring children to meet their parents and we ask again that parents do not enter the poolside. The pick up point is not a changing area and parents will need to take children over the corridor to either the girls or boys dry changing rooms for a quick change back into onsie and flip flops. Unfortunately, no shower facilities will be available.

Other Considerations:

We are no longer allowed to lend goggles to children. Children will need to bring their own goggles with their name in permanent marker on them.

It is advisable to keep £2.50 in your swim bag for purchasing badges. We are no longer able to give badges out unless they are paid for. We are also unable to give change.

Links to onsies/dryrobes will be provided in due course.

Bishopgore Pool:

Arrival at the building:

Parents will be advised to stay in their cars until 5 minutes before the start of their child's lesson. Unfortunately, due to restricted numbers on the premises, only one parent will be allowed to bring children to their lesson. We will not be able to accommodate additional family members.

On arrival, parents will need to read the self declaration poster and use the sanitiser provided. They will then be directed inside at the metal steps to the rear of what was the girls changing rooms. This is now your entrance and is a “slip out of onesie area“ 3/4 mins before the lesson starts.

Getting changed:

Children need to arrive to their swimming lesson 'beach ready', which means a bather on under a onsie and easy slip on shoes or flip flops. Children will be called by the class teacher to line up on poolside- we ask that parents do not enter the poolside before this time.

Teachers will collect children when they are called and will take them down to their lesson. Unfortunately, due to restricted numbers allowed on pool side parents must exit the building via the main steps and wait in their cars during the lesson.

After the lesson:

Parents will need to return to the pick up point via the main steps approximately 3-4 minutes prior to the end of their child's lesson. Their teacher will bring them down poolside to meet you and give feedback. Parents and swimmers will then need to go straight into what was the boys changing room for a quick change back into their onsie and flip flops. Unfortunately, no shower facilities will be available.

Other Considerations:

We are no longer allowed to lend goggles to children. Children will need to bring their own goggles with their name in permanent marker on them. These can be pre ordered with us if you need a pair and are £9.

It is advisable to keep £2.50 in your swim bag for purchasing badges. We are no longer able to give badges out unless they are paid for. We are also unable to give change.

Please call the office on 01792281365 to make your card payments as you are no longer able to pay at the pool .

Links to onsies/dryrobes will be provided in due course.
